Case studies
To bring the vision of CONFINED to life, we have carefully selected four case studies of translocal family networks where confinement plays a central role. These cases represent diverse geopolitical and historical contexts:
- Sierra Leoneans maneuvering postcolonial and economic ties between the United Kingdom and Sierra Leone;
- Malawians coping with circular labor migration regimes between Malawi and South Africa;
- Displaced people from Myanmar navigating exile in Thailand;
- Displaced Palestinians in enclosed territories, refugee camps, and prisons between Lebanon and Denmark
